New Campus and City of Golden Parking Rules Take Effect
Visitors to the Mines campus have both new parking options as well as new restrictions.
Two new parking lots have been created, one at the site of the former Hall of Justice building between 17th and 18th Streets on Washington and one on the former Ford dealership property on 19th Street near 6th Avenue. Additionally, there are more spaces for visitors in campus lots as employees are not allowed to purchase assigned reserved spaces for their vehicles, thereby making better use of available spaces when employees are absent from work.
The City of Golden is requiring a special city permit to park on streets surrounding campus. This measure was taken to preserve adequate parking for city residents living near the school, and the city is strictly enforcing the policy between the hours of 7:00am to 4:00pm.
Visitors may park in any blue general lot or yellow commuter lots throughout campus, in addition to campus streets with an appropriate meter receipt (meters located throughout the campus) displayed on the dash or a hangtag permit from the parking office.
Visitors may park free anywhere on campus after 5:00pm and on weekends.
You’ll find brochures at each of our parking meters that can also help guide you around the campus. For more information, visit the Mines Parking Services page.
