Are you a Helluva volunteer?
Do you want to be?

Whether you are looking to share your time by mentoring students, connecting with fellow alumni in your local community, or becoming an ambassador for Mines, we have opportunities for you.

Colorado School of Mines uses the “Volunteer with Mines” platform to host and promote volunteer opportunities related to Mines. Whether you are an alum, a member of the Mines community, a family member, or a friend of Mines, we’d love to have you as a volunteer. Opportunities range from participating on campus directly with the Mines community to joining virtual events, to engaging with Mines community members across the globe.

Through this platform, you can:

  • Remain up to date on the exciting volunteer opportunities available at Colorado School of Mines as well as within your local Oredigger community
  • “Fan” areas that are of interest to you to stay informed on available opportunities
  • Respond to individual volunteer opportunities

There are so many ways to volunteer, and we are excited for you to support Mines by being a Helluva Volunteer!

Steps for Volunteering with Mines

The first step in becoming a Helluva volunteer is to create your Volunteer with Mines profile. Please choose the "Haven't signed up yet? Click Here" button and you will be walked through the process.

If you would like to use our step-by-step guide, please view this document that details the process with images: Volunteer with Mines account creation steps.

The best place to get started is your left-hand navigation menu.

Programs – Programs are the groups, areas of interest, or initiatives that have been identified to better sort volunteer opportunities. You can “fan” programs that you are interested in and by doing so you will receive notifications when those programs post new opportunities. Visiting program pages is a great way to learn more about the program and see what's available.

Opportunities – Opportunities lists all the available volunteer opportunities. You can sort and filter this page to make it easier to find opportunities that interest you.

There is a variety of ways to volunteer with Mines and by exploring the listed Programs and Opportunities, you are sure to find areas that interest you!

Before you can start responding to volunteer opportunities, you must first complete the five required qualifications. You can find the qualification section listed in your profile.

These qualifications will make you aware of Colorado School of Mines and Mines Foundation policies and expectations for engaging with the community and representing Mines. The five qualifications are:

  1. Volunteer Privacy Agreement Waiver (form)
  2. Volunteer Code of Conduct (form)
  3. Student Engagement Video and Quiz
  4. Title IX Training Video and Quiz
  5. Volunteer Welcome Video and Quiz

Completing these qualifications will take no more than 20 minutes.

Congratulations!

You have now established yourself as a Helluva Mines volunteer. We are excited for you to work with us in support of the Mines community. Now that you have a profile and have curated it to your liking, you can stay engaged with the needs and opportunities that speak to you.

Check back on this site regularly as new and exciting opportunities are posted throughout the year.

Q) Do I need an account to respond to opportunities?

A) Yes. You must be logged in with an existing account to respond to an opportunity. If you try to respond but are not logged in, you'll see a pop-up that gives you the option of logging in or, if you do not already have an account, creating an account. Once you are logged in to your account, you'll be returned to the opportunity information page to complete your response. Hooray!

Q) Do I need to complete the required qualifications before I respond to an opportunity?

A) Yes. Every new volunteer needs to complete each required training video and waiver before they can register to volunteer for an opportunity. For more comprehensive instructions on completing the volunteer qualifications, please click here.

Q) Can you change my password?

A) Site managers can change passwords, but so can volunteers! If you forget your password, no worries! You can click the “Forgot Password” link on the login page. From there, you will be asked to enter your email address, and the site will send you a password reset link.

Q) Is there training available for volunteers?

A) Yes. We offer three volunteer training videos and two forms under the 'Qualifications' section of your profile. The volunteer site also offers a robust Help Center that houses a plethora of articles and videos.

Q) How many responses can I make?

A) Great news. There's no limit to your awesomeness! You can register for any number of volunteer opportunities.

Q) How do I stop receiving emails?

A) All site users have the option of "opting out" of all messages coming from your site, including email blasts and automated notifications. Volunteers can opt-out using two methods:

  • By clicking the Unsubscribe link included in email messages generated from your site.
  • By going to your profile and changing the email setting, as described in Managing Your Volunteer Profile.
